Tasting Wine For Beginners

Of course, every “rule” has an exception, and the first thing you need to know about is that there’s fun in learning good wines. There are two major types of wine, the red and white, of course almost everyone knows this.

These wines range in taste and aroma for each group. There are the sweet in taste, and there are the dry ones (dry is the best description for non-sweet wines). The age also matters, some wine are really good when they are bottled for years, while others can be drunk immediately, because aging doesn’t affect anything to them.

For some, it’s very confusing to determine which wine is good because there are so many different names of these wines. So which one is good? To remember the names of the wines, just remember that some are named after the grapes but in Europe, they name the wine from which the grapes grew in. For example, Burgundy, Bordeaux and champagne are regions in France. These can be red or white or and the grapes that are made of these wines can be a combination of any grapes as long as it grew in the same region.

Wine is named after the grapes that compromise majority of its ingredients, outside of Europe. For example, Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape, and so is Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Merlot of Pinot Noir. There is a bit of confusion here since most of the wine made in Burgundy constitutes Pinot Noir grapes, however they call it Burgundy nonetheless. Just take note that it’s all about the region over there. It’s the same grapes that everyone is using. They call it with different names based on where they are making the wine.

Wines in California are much amiable for first timers. They are fruitier, but that doesn’t mean they are sweeter. European wines on the other hand, are known for many types of blending that makes the flavour taste more unique and complicated to determine.

There are no “right” wines; actually it just depends on one’s personal taste. If you taste the wine and you like it, then that’s the wine for you.
